Midsummer Sound Company

Dedicated to the production and promotion of the spoken word and audio arts including but not limited to audiobooks, audio plays, storytelling and poetry.

ABOUT US

Midsummer Sound Company was first established in January 1975, by Tony Hawkins and Helen Engelhardt, to create new products invented by Tony Hawkins, such as The Runaround, The Reel Around, and The Van Gobo, for professional recording and editing engineers. Tony Hawkins was a salesman representing Revox tape recorders and Beyer microphones, with a life long enthusiasm for radio plays, so Midsummer Sound Company was also dedicated to recording and promoting audio drama. After he died, in December of 1988, Midsummer Sound Company was dissolved.

In the fall of 2007, Helen Engelhardt restored Midsummer Sound Company. This time the mission is focused on the promotion and production of audio arts.

In the Spring of 2008 we completed our first audiobook, Edges O Israel O Palestine, written by Leora Skolkin-Smith and narrated by Tovah Feldshuh.
